In the latest Baldacci thriller, the US president approves a course of action which, if it goes wrong, will see him charged with misconduct, i.e. impeached.
Naturally, of course, otherwise there'd be no story, the course of action turns to custard. Our vainglorious president's bacon is saved by two ruthless, disobedient assassins (sorry, US Government operatives), Will Robie and Jessica Reel. George should have been so lucky.
Throw in twists and turns that would make a snake with indigestion envious and you have a good ol' US of A romp that takes you through the four N's. Neo-Nazis, North Korea and Nantucket.
It's all a bit gung-ho and improbable: think weapons of mass destruction and Bay of Pigs, but a page-turner for all that.
