What is your favourite possession? My Rolleiflex 2.8C camera.

Why? Because it holds the promise of endless possibilities.

How did you get it? Given to me by my fiancé; he bought it on a Trade Me auction from a chap in Invercargill.

What is it made of? Resilient metals, precision glass lenses and housed in an original leather case.

How old is it? It was born in the 1950s.

Where do you keep it? In a silly plastic bag in my darkroom.

What's it worth? No idea, really.

Is it insured? Not for the memories.

Could you get another one? Yes, they're out there.

Does it have a name? Rollei.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

You can help us continue to bring you local news you can trust by becoming a supporter.
