Medical researchers in Australia are taking to the skies to find ways to counter jetlag.
The University of Sydney's Charles Perkins Centre has teamed up with airliner Qantas to improve the health and well being of passengers on long haul flights.
As part of the new wellness programme, launched in Sydney on Thursday, Qantas frequent flyers will wear special technology to measure the impact the cabins lighting and temperature as well as in-flight food has on their biorhythms during travel.
Professor Steve Simpson, Academic Director of the Charles Perkins Centre, says this is an exciting project that offers the potential for "extraordinary" health, science and engineering discoveries.
"Which will also provide the evidence-base needed for Qantas to implement strategies to further improve how people feel after a long haul flight," Prof Simpson said.
Other projects will be trialling on-board exercise and movement.
