Writers from University of Otago student magazine Critic won several awards at the recent Aotearoa Student Press Association awards in Wellington.
Staff writers Charlotte Greenfield and Andrew Oliver won awards for best feature writer and best feature respectively, while Critic news editor Gregor Whyte won the best news writer award category.
Volunteer staffer Teuila Fuatai won the best news writer (unpaid) award category, while a feature writing team, consisting of Whyte, Joe Stockman and Aimee Gulliver, won the best education series award category for a series of articles about the effects of voluntary student membership on student associations.
Despite Critic securing a clean sweep of the news and feature-writing awards, it missed out on the top prize of best publication, coming second to Victoria University's Salient by one point.
Critic designer Andrew Jacombs was second in the best cover and best original photography categories, while other staff contributors were runners-up in the columnist, cartoonist, reviewer and headline categories.
