Diggers continue work to secure critical infrastructure on a section of the Silver Stream bank, near Wingatui, yesterday, after the project, undertaken by Downer, resumed late last week.

Dunedin City Council 3 Waters Capital Delivery team leader Dominika Biziak-Kochan said the work had earlier been halted because of the Covid-19 lockdown, but had resumed after safety arrangements were finalised.

The work was classified as essential because of an increased risk to critical water supplies.

Part of the popular Silver Stream walking track had been closed and an alternative route that included Centre St, Silver Springs Boulevard and part of Wingatui Rd was available.

Work is expected to end next month.
