AOS called to crossbow incident

The armed offenders squad surrounded a house in Dunedin early yesterday after reports two women were assaulted and a man was armed with a crossbow.

Acting Senior Sergeant Simon Mapp said police were called about 12.30am to a Brinsdon Rd, Brockville, address after reports the women had been assaulted with a side-handled baton, similar to a police baton, and a man had threatened people at the house with a crossbow.

Snr Sgt Mapp said the AOS arrested two people at the house without incident.

• A 36-year-old man appeared in the Dunedin District Court yesterday charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and threatening to cause grievous bodily harm. A 36-year-old woman was charged with assault with a weapon.
