Police and the armed offenders squad responded to reports of a person with a firearm in South Dunedin this evening.
A police spokesperson said they received a report shortly after 5pm "of a person with what they said appeared to be a firearm on a private property in Forbury".
Police were in attendance and the AOS had been called as a precaution.
Cordons were in place.
In an update this evening police said they had cleared the address and nothing of interest had been found.
