A man accused of the murder of a 66-year-old Dunedin man has denied the charge.
Brockville painter Jason Karl Blackler appeared in the High Court at Dunedin this morning where he pleaded not guilty through his lawyer Anne Stevens.
There would be no application for bail today, she said.
The 47-year-old is accused of the murder of fellow Brockville resident Alan Fahey on or before October 25.
The defendant originally appeared before the Dunedin District Court last month and was given name suppression, but that lapsed several days later after he had informed members of his family about the charge.
Mr Fahey's body was discovered at his Brockville Rd property on October 26, police said.
According to court documents Blackler's address is the same Housing New Zealand property where Fahey lived.
The defendant would next appear in the High Court in February.
