About 1400 people attended the show held at the Taieri Bowling Club at the weekend.
Show convener Trevor Buchanan said the calibre of layouts was high and people were captivated.
A father with his children spent about four hours at the show.
One layout called Arauatu, pronounced ''a row or two'' was of ''museum quality'', he said.
