Change at intersection in wake of crashes

The Dunedin City Council plans to make the intersection of Queens Dr and Andersons Bay Rd safer and more efficient by stopping traffic coming out of Queens Dr from turning right.

Signs and road markings will be used to mark the change, which will take effect from November 7.

Between 2011 and 2017, five crashes were recorded at the intersection, and right-turning or straight-ahead traffic (to the BP petrol station) often caused congestion while people waited for a gap in the traffic.

Motorists travelling to Musselburgh from Queens Dr will now have to turn left, drive around the nearby roundabout and head back up Andersons Bay Rd.

Alternative routes were also available in Victoria Rd, Marlow St and Ravelston St.
