Drug operation leads to two arrests

Police arrested two men and are speaking to three others after they searched six Dunedin homes for drugs yesterday.

Detective Hamish Barrons, of the Dunedin organised crime unit, said the two men appeared in the Dunedin District Court yesterday on drugs charges.

Properties in Kaikorai Valley, Mornington and City Rise were searched.

A total of 22 ounces of cannabis, with a street value of about $7700, and drug equipment was found at one address.

The search warrants were part of a short-term ongoing drug operation, Det Barrons said.

• Tehura Quinten Wihongi (26) and Korrey Teeati Cook (33), facing indictably-laid joint charges of selling cannabis between October 1, 2008 and June 19, 2009, were remanded on bail to July 3 when they appeared in the Dunedin District Court yesterday.
