Dunedin North Intermediate School Hall played host to an array of music, performances and food from all around the globe as part of Race Relations Day.

The Dunedin Multi Ethnic Council organises the annual event to celebrate multicultural diversity in Otago.

People from China, Indonesia, South America, Ireland, Vietnam and many other countries attended.

Performances included the Otago Southland Chinese Association's ''Lion Dance'', University of Otago's Kiribati Performance Group, the Korean Drumming Group and the Irish Beat Dance Group.

Speaker Paul Naidu, of the English Language Partners, said the message to take away from the event was ''big change starts small''.

''You should never be ashamed of your culture.''
