Ms Bevin (20) won the third annual scholarship at the Waikato University performing arts academy on Monday night performing as the Duo Giocoso with Wellington pianist Rafaella Garlick-Grice (20).
The pair receive a $50,000 month-long musical scholarship in England, including air fares, accommodation, mentoring and tickets to cultural events, including the BBC Proms and Edinburgh Festival.
They will also perform in concerts at St Martin-in-the-Fields in London and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
"It's really exciting. I've never even been to Europe before," Ms Bevin told the Otago Daily Times. "I'm very privileged and I'll have to make the most of it when I go over."
Ms Bevin said she hoped to take up the scholarship in August next year.
"We want to get there while there's still some of the university year left, so we can get some consultation lessons with teachers. I've been busy investigating who to study with over there."
The New Zealand branch of the Royal Overseas League initiated the award three years ago to support young New Zealand musicians and artists through a programme of scholarships and performance opportunities.
The Duo Giocoso was selected after a weekend of performances from nine ensembles nominated by the Otago, Canterbury, Victoria, Waikato and Auckland universities.
The judging panel said the duo "displayed a seriousness and maturity which, in the opinion of the judges, made them the group most ready to take full advantage of the intensive performance and coaching opportunities which the scholarship offers."
