Student fashion fit for a queen will be on display to thousands at the Dunedin Railway Station as part of the 2013 iD Dunedin Fashion Show in March.

Otago Polytechnic fashion graduate Tansy Morris (23) is one of five students selected to show three garments in the annual fashion show.

She based her final collection, comprising five dresses and hats, on the coronation of the Queen in 1953.

Miss Morris wanted her garments to be "bold and fun".

Her use of bright colour was inspired by a bouquet of flowers.

She used her grandmother's sewing machine and the advice passed down to her from generations of family seamstresses in the making of her clothes.

Miss Morris was thrilled to be selected as an iD designer and said family members had already booked tickets to see her garments on the catwalk.

Fellow fashion graduates Rakel Blomsterberg (26), Olivia Bloxham (20), Samuel Ralph (21) and Samantha O'Reilly (22) were also chosen to show parts of their final collections at iD.

Judges Tim Pollock, Margi Robertson and Charmaine Reveley analysed the work of 25 School of Design fashion graduates during the recent Collections 12 show to make their choice.

Ms Robertson said she was impressed by this year's graduating class.

"Each year, the collections seem to be more advanced and presented in such a professional manner without compromising on personal creativity," she said.
