Firefighters were called to a Dunedin bank about 10.40am following reports of a burning smell.
Crews from Dunedin and Willowbank attended the incident at the ASB bank on George St, and a light fitting at the back of the building was checked.
An electrician was called to fix the problem.
The building was not evacuated.
