Two people have been injured in a fire in Dunedin this afternoon.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said it was called to a fire at a property on Park St just after 1pm.

The "small fire" was out upon the arrival of two fire trucks from Dunedin Central and Willowbank.

A member of the public had extinguished the fire, he said.

It was too early to determine the cause of the fire.

A St John spokesman said one person was moderately injured and taken to Dunedin Hospital.
