Grant for ecosanctuary

More children will have access to Orokonui Ecosanctuary's learning programmes thanks to a grant from the Leslie Hutchins Conservation Foundation.

The ecosanctuary, north of Dunedin, would be able to offer transport subsidies to 200 children from low-decile schools and 30 at-risk pupils, ecosanctuary general manager Chris Baillie said.

"We consistently receive excellent feedback about our education programme and we realise that the cost of transport can inhibit some from participating.

"This subsidy will allow significantly more young people to enjoy our unique learning environment."
