First in line outside the now opened Mecca Dunedin store are (from left) Luna-Marama Merrilees, 11, Enya-Mahuika Merrilees, 10, and Scarlett Gunn, 9.

The official Dunedin store, at the former Noel Leeming premises in 248 George St, opened its doors yesterday morning to a queue of about 50 people.

A Mecca spokeswoman said the new store brought an "elevated beauty experience" to local customers, featuring exclusive products and services debuting in Dunedin for the first time.

The store offers four makeup services, three fragrance consultations and three semi-private skin spaces for treatments.

Customers who make an in-store purchase over the weekend will be gifted a curated selection of makeup, skincare, fragrance, hair or body products.
