Illness cuts red meat from shelves

Any shoppers looking to stock up on red meat from Woolworths Dunedin Central may have to look elsewhere for now.

Yesterday, people looking at the beef section of the meat isle noticed it was decidedly bare. A Woolworths spokesman said this was due to staff illness in the butchery.

"Our Dunedin Central store is currently without a butcher, which has impacted availability of red meat," he said.

Dunedin Central was being supported with surrounding Woolworths stores, however, red meat availability at Dunedin Central would likely be reduced for the next few days.

"We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience [and] we are currently recruiting for butchers at our Dunedin Central store," he said.
