The Landers Army are at it again.

Championship T-shirts have been created as a memento of the Highlanders' historic Super Rugby victory over the Hurricanes last weekend.

Landers Army organisers Andrew James and Chris Brun, who led a 500 strong ''army'' to Wellington, designed the shirts on the back of the success of the original ''Invade the Capital'' T-shirts created for supporters.

Mr James is most well-known for his tackle on a streaker while dressed as ''The Zoo'' chicken in 2013.

''We wanted to give the players a chance to have input on what the T-shirts would look like,'' he said.

The Highlanders were on a tight schedule but Messrs James and Brun managed to get on a Highlanders bus on Tuesday night to consult the players as they were heading to a celebratory event.

''We took a laptop in the back [of the bus] and ended up having a one-hour trip with them to talk about what the T-shirts would look like.''

Eight Highlanders players, including flanker James Lentjes and lock Joe Wheeler, had input into the design of the shirts, which could be personally customised with a name and number.

Lentjes fully supported the venture.

''It's awesome that these lads are going to get behind a team that created history.

''Outstanding stuff,'' he said.
