Listed building

The Otago Museum complex, including new sections, is to be classified as a category 1 building, of national heritage significance, by the Historic Places Trust.

Museum chief executive Shimrath Paul told a recent trust board meeting a memorandum of understanding was being developed, partly to ensure the museum could continue to make operational changes within the complex.

Board members had since been consulted via email over the memorandum, which had yet to be signed, museum officials said yesterday.
