Man stabbed in central Dunedin

A 43-year-old man is in a serious condition in Dunedin Hospital after being stabbed three times during an altercation in central Dunedin last night.

Senior Sergeant Brian Benn, of Dunedin, said the man had three puncture wounds but the weapon had not been found.

Police were last night looking for the other man involved in the altercation, which happened about 6.30pm in Graham St, which runs off High St.

In an unrelated incident, a man received minor hand injuries after a knife attack in Careys Bay, Dunedin, on Saturday afternoon.

Snr Sgt Benn said the offender, a 28-year-old man, was related to the victim.

He was taken to Dunedin Hospital, and would be transferred to Wakari Hospital, police said.
