Man waving walking stick greets noise control officers

A man allegedly wielding a walking stick was arrested by police following two visits to his Dunedin home by noise control officers early yesterday.

Dunedin City Council noise control officers, acting on complaints by residents, visited an Arthur St property about 1am.

Senior Sergeant Brian Benn said the 46-year-old was arrested on a charge of possessing an offensive weapon.

Council senior environmental health officer Wayne Boss said officers usually contacted police when seizing property, but were involved in serving the noise direction notice in the incident.
