More Sheeran shows possible

Promoters have not ruled out further Ed Sheeran shows for Dunedin.

Frontier Touring posted on social media yesterday that ''we're currently in discussions with Ed's team about the possibility of additional shows''.

''Stay tuned for more news on that front,'' the Facebook post said.

The post revealed 13 of the Australia and New Zealand tour's shows had sold out with very limited tickets remaining for the third Auckland show.

When contacted by the Otago Daily Times, a spokeswoman for Frontier said the promoters were investigating the possibility of further shows on the tour.

They had not ruled out further shows in New Zealand at present, and said they were assessing the possibility ''Australasia-wide''.

When asked if venues other than Dunedin or Auckland were possible, she said: ''We don't think that would be viable''.

''It's all just a big 'if' at the moment,'' she said.

Close to 80,000 people are expected to attend Sheeran's two Dunedin shows next March.

If Sheeran announces a further concert on the tour it will be the biggest stadium show tour ever in Australia and New Zealand.

The planned 14-show run at present equals the record for the most stadium shows on an Australia and New Zealand tour, set by AC/DC in 2010.
