The Otago Museum cafe's first year of reorganised operations has been "an important milestone" for the museum, chief executive Shimrath Paul says.
Commenting in the museum's 2010-11 annual report, Mr Paul noted the museum cafe had previously been leased out to an independent operator.
Run by the museum, the cafe contributed "a much more significant proportion of takings" to the museum's budget, he said.
Recent figures show income several times the value of the former cafe lease income.
