The Otago Museum's science engagement team has been planning ''how best to maximise the timing'' of the many externally-funded outreach activities it has been contracted to deliver this year.

The first half of this year will focus on the delivery of the ''Dunedin, Otago and wider South Island outreach projects''.

The second half of the year will feature North Island and Pacific activities.

Planned outreach activities included Extreme Science II, and Science Show-offs.

This planning arrangement would make the most of shared transportation costs, museum director Dr Ian Griffin said in a recent museum report.

The museum team plans to take the Lab in a Box to Auckland, in partnership with Te Kura o te Kauri: The School of the Kauri, with Victoria University of Wellington, to tackle the kauri dieback issue over October, the report said.
