NCEA, scholarship exams finish

A collective sigh of relief went up across Otago secondary schools yesterday as the 2015 NCEA and New Zealand Scholarship examination season came to an end.

About 6200 Otago pupils were among the 145,000 pupils who sat this year's exams, which finished with Latin, art history, German and social studies yesterday.

The largest exams were NCEA level 1 mathematics, which was sat by more than 40,000 pupils, and level 1 English, which was sat by 48,700 pupils.

The smallest exam was scholarship Latin with just 27 pupils across the country sitting it last week.

A team of about 1750 markers will now mark all the papers by Christmas, and NCEA results are expected to be released online from mid-January.

Pupils unable to access results online can have a printed copy sent to them, but must make this request via the pupil log-in section of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority website by the end of December.
