A Dunedin bar that closed down late last year is set to reopen as a new venue.
The Metro Bar ceased trading in December and the company behind it was put into liquidation earlier this year, owing Inland Revenue $141,399.
The Stuart St site was boarded up but now features a sign promoting Suburbia Eatery and Nightlife.
Operator Ian Lindsay said the new venue would feature a cafe, restaurant and nightclub.
''We will be putting some love into it.''
The venue was expected to open in late May.
The sole director of Metro Bar (Dunedin) Ltd Ben Hanssen could not be reached for comment yesterday.
Mr Hanssen hit the headlines last year when the revealed his business dealings, leaving a trail of creditors in Auckland, Christchurch, Ashburton and Dunedin.
The Dunedin CIB continues to investigate matters relating to Mr Hanssen.
