Newspaper appeal to help Regent Theatre

Allied Press, the publisher of the Otago Daily Times, will co-ordinate a campaign to help raise funds towards the redevelopment of the Regent Theatre through its Dunedin community newspaper, The Star.

The Star editor Helen Speirs said the newspaper was concerned about the possible loss of the theatre.

"The Regent Theatre is an important asset, used and enjoyed by many people and groups in the community," Miss Speirs said.

"Because of this, The Star is working with the Otago Theatre Trust and has initiated a campaign to help save the Regent.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
