A confused driver sparked a police pursuit in Dunedin on Thursday.
Senior Sergeant James Ure, of Dunedin, said police received a complaint about an SUV "weaving within the lane'' on the Southern Motorway.
A pursuit started after the driver failed to stop when a police officer flashed his vehicle's lights and sounded its siren.
Another patrol car stopped the vehicle in East Taieri, near Riccarton Rd East.
"The reason for failing to stop was purely confusion with being followed by police with lights and sirens,'' Snr Sgt Ure said.
Speed and alcohol were not a factor and no charges were laid.
