Graduating from Dunedin’s Arai Te Uru Kōkiri Centre yesterday with a certificate in whānau ora are (from left) Teresa Sinclair-Moody, Shianne Davies, Hope Rewha, Wendy Matthews, Zhemera Marsh, Ngaleena Unahi, Raniera Smyth, Taniya McBride, Navaea Ellison and her mother Ana Ellison.

Almost 90 people came to celebrate the event at the only private kaupapa Māori training provider south of Christchurch.

Miss Unahi said she was proud of herself and her classmates, who had all worked hard.

Among them was her partner, Mr Smyth, who had helped her with the food and nutrition aspects of the course, which he was good at, before deciding to join himself several weeks later.

Kaiako Lisa Lindsay said she was "absolutely delighted" to see the class graduate and she could not wait to see what they would go on to achieve in future.
