It was just her her second meet in her first season of racing. There was "a bit" of jostling between cars but Maddy said it did not bother her.
She enjoyed everything about the sport, particularly "going fast".
Her car had come out a little beaten-up and its upkeep was something she was learning on the job, she said.
Her dad, Shannon Young, said his family came from racing and Maddy started in the sport alongside his business partner’s children.
"[Seeing Maddy race] jumped my heart rate up a little bit," he said.
