Resident injured in home gas explosion; crews attend

A gas explosion left a Henley resident with moderate injuries yesterday morning.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand supervisor Mike Wanoa said crews were called  to a home in Henley Rd shortly after 9am after reports of a gas explosion.

There were no reports of fire in the wake of the explosion, which was described by crews as "small", Mr Wanoa said.

St John spokesman Gerard Campbell said  the victim was taken to Dunedin Hospital with moderate injuries.
