Muriel Braid (79), Phyllis Beagley (78) and Betty Treuge (80) are all Carisbrook season ticket-holders and have been faithfully watching Otago play for years.
The three widows now sit in the main stand and say attending a live match is much better than watching it at home on television.
"I love the game and love the atmosphere," Mrs Beagley said.
"The crowds aren't as big as they used to be, but they [the players] are trying their hardest."
The women used to go to the rugby with their husbands, but now went together.
They started buying season tickets in 2000, to make sure of a seat, and still did so despite the stadium being far from full on most match days.
Mrs Braid first went to Carisbrook in 1946 and has been a regular since.
"We enjoy it, although we don't know the players at all. It's good to be there and support the boys . . . You feel sorry for them when they lose, but they are giving it their best," she said.
Adam Thomson was a favourite and they liked the look of new All Black winger Ben Smith.
But their days at Carisbrook are numbered with the new Forsyth Barr Stadium under construction.
"I would like to hope we will continue in the new stadium," Mrs Beagley said.
