Shot fired at baby in pram

A woman is furious after a passenger in a passing car shot at her 1-year-old daughter with a BB gun in South Dunedin yesterday.

The woman, who declined to be named, said she was pushing her daughter in a pram in Hillside Rd near Bathgate Park when she heard a "popping" noise coming from a passing car.

"I thought a car had run over something on the street.

"But then I noticed a plastic pellet in the pram next to my daughter's head.

"It's a stupid thing to do. It could have gone in her eye."

Dunedin police were called, but the offender has not been located.

Acting Senior Sergeant Trevor Thomson, of Dunedin, said no-one had been spoken to in relation to the incident, but South Dunedin police were investigating.
