Wet, muddy conditions in Dunedin at the weekend were good news for Mike McCarthy, of Dunedin, as he tackled the Waitati Park course in his V8 Safari during the Otago Land Rover Owners Club 4x4 Ironman rally yesterday.
''They were very slippery and wet conditions, which meant it was just right for us.''
The annual rally is usually held in November, but was moved to May this year to avoid clashing with other events in November, Mr Quin said.
''It went really well. We had people from Oamaru to Invercargill involved.''
The winners of the divisions were: Joel Kergosu (super modified), Don Hayes (greater modified), Ben Simmons (modified) and Hayden Cleminson (standard).
The object of the competition was to travel the length of the hazard course without stopping or knocking over pegs, Mr Quin said.
