The Presbyterian Support Otago annual boot sale began this week.

Presbyterian Support Otago retail assistant Donna Knox said the first batch of the 300 pairs of polished, donated boots went on sale on Monday.

''We will be putting out new boots each week.''

The boots on sale were in a range of sizes and priced between $10 and $60. The $60 stock included some brown Brazilian genuine leather boots.

The sale would continue until the final pair of boots had walked out the door, she said.

Presbyterian Support Otago development director Lisa Wells said in the first week of the sale last year, 100 pairs of boots were sold and 290 in the sale.

''This year we hope to exceed that figure,'' she said.

The proceeds would help fund Family Works Otago, Presbyterian Support Otago's services for children, young people and families.

''Sale proceeds go towards family services such as parenting programmes, social work, budgeting and youth work.''
