More than 100 people are expected to take part in the Joint Effort walk tomorrow to raise awareness of orthopaedic surgery.
The event is held every two years and is the first of several to be held throughout the country over the next month to raise funds for orthopaedic research.
Event co-ordinator Haemish Crawford said the 1km walk was for anyone with hip, knee and other joint replacements, and those who had benefited from orthopaedic surgery.
"The walk is not a race and we just want participants to complete the course at their own speed and enjoy the company and share experiences with other walkers."
Funds raised from the walk, via sponsorship and other donations, will go towards the New Zealand Wishbone Trust, which raises money to fund research and education project relating to orthopaedic surgery.
The Otago walk will be held at King's High School and begins with registration of walkers about 1pm.
Speeches and prizegiving will follow at 2pm, and participants will begin their walk after that.
