Sand sausages at Middle Beach appear to have lost sand over the stormy weekend.
A Dunedin City Council spokesman said the damage was being assessed and repairs or replacement would follow as required.
"We always expected maintenance of the structures would be required from time to time, and this damage just reinforces what we already know about the potential for severe weather events on our wild southern coast," the spokesman said.
