Dunedin Host Lions Club sent out 6000 leaflets to Dunedin homes asking for second-hand records, CDs, DVDs, musical instruments and other music-related items.

Organiser and Lions Club member Jan Ravenwood said the garage sale, which raised money for the Chair in Neurosurgery Campaign, had been so successful the group would likely repeat it next year.

Mrs Ravenwood said the sale was particularly popular with record collectors, some of whom were waiting outside the hall an hour before it started.
