An Otago Toastmasters club is expanding to include online membership.

Waitati Toastmasters Club is run by a core group of Waitati locals and experienced Toastmasters and meets at Blueskin Bay Library.

Supporting Toastmaster Jane Gregory said the library was an ideal location for the 4-month-old club.

"Having Wi-Fi access gives us a marvellous opportunity to allow online participation at our meetings.

"We have been testing the technology and will be ready to go live on August 14,'' she said.

She said it would suit anyone who lived too far away from a club to attend meetings, and would also allow flexibility if someone could not attend every week.

The club runs to the same format as other Toastmaster clubs.

Members, whether attending online or in person, work through the Toastmasters education programme, and practise a variety of speaking skills at each meeting.

Meetings are held on Wednesdays, from 7pm, at Blueskin Bay Library.
