A crane scoops mounds of sediment from the marina by the Otago Yacht Club.

It is part of a $120,000 project to dredge the marina to allow boats to enter and exit at all tides.

At the end of last week the club had dredged about 2000 tonnes, and expects it to increase to about 3000.

Club commodore Frank McCarthy said it was all going well, although bad weather caused some delays.

The work, which started late last month, would finish towards the end of the month, he said.
