A person was transported to hospital in serious condition after a two-vehicle crash near Outram on Saturday afternoon.

Hato Hone St John was notified at 12:46pm and sent two ambulances and a rapid response unit,  to the scene.

"Our crews assessed and treated two patients, one in a serious condition who was transported to Dunedin hospital, and one patient in a moderate condition who was treated at the scene,” a spokeswoman said

Police said the happened crash near the intersection of State Highway 87 Mosgiel-Outram and Gladfield Rd.

The highway was closed for a period but had reopened, the spokesman said.
