An unlicensed teenager driver who "convinced" his friend to let him have a go on his motorbike almost instantly crashed, injuring himself.
The 17-year-old suffered a suspected broken leg and was taken to hospital after crashing the bike in a retail outlet carpark in Cumberland St, Dunedin, at 8pm on Thursday, Sergeant Matt Lee said.
The teenager "convinced" his friend to let him have a turn on their motorbike within the carpark, Sgt Lee said.
The teen crashed first into a parked car, before slamming into a concrete wall.
Emergency services responded and Hato Hone St John transported him to Dunedin Hospital. — Allied Media
