Dunedin fans of the Wiggles put on their happy faces when tickets to an unscheduled third concert by the Australian children's music group went on sale yesterday.
All 3300 tickets for the first two performances at the Regent Theatre on September 21 were snapped up within hours of going on sale last month.
"I was sick when the tickets went on sale, so I missed out," Kate Lilley, of Dunedin, said after securing three tickets yesterday.
"I felt like mother of the year. I was gutted, because my 2-year-old Isaac is a big Wiggles fan. So, he'll be stoked."
Even the Wiggles were looking forward to an extra Dunedin date.
"We were all very excited to hear that we'll be doing a third show at the Regent Theatre," Blue Wiggle Anthony Field said, speaking from the United States yesterday.
The Wiggles are working their way through a sell-out tour of the United States, illustrating the group's international appeal to children, managing director Paul Field said.
Original Wiggles Murray Cook, Greg Page and Jeff Fatt will be replaced by replacements Emma Watkins, Simon Pryce and Lachlan Gillespie, from next year.
Regent Theatre general manager Sarah Anderson said tickets sales for the extra concert were "very steady" yesterday.
