Hundreds of litres of water cascaded on to the stage floor of the Regent Theatre following a winter blast night.

The curtain had just come down on a school production when water began overflowing from a gutter last night.

By this morning staff had emptied almost 200 litres from buckets on the stage, with water continuing to drip from the affected area.

Assessors have been called to assess the damage.

Meanwhile another school production scheduled for tonight has been postponed until a later date.
