Our weather has been reasonably boring lately, there was one clap of thunder on the 11th and I woke up on Wednesday morning to relatively strong winds that soon now eased to about 25 KM/H sustained. There was a small branch down on my street.

Over the last few days, the weather has settled with highs climbing back to 20degC . A weak front will come from the southwest and northwest today and tomorrow bringing light, patchy showers.

Sunday is brief respite, with temperatures of 20degC and full sunshine.

Monday and Tuesday are dominated by potentially heavy showers and strong southwesterlies.

In other news, 3000 people were without power after a large thunderstorm tore through the Sumner area just after 6 on the 11th.

There is also a tropical storm forming in the central Atlantic, soon to be named Ophelia, on a collision course with Ireland. It may hit as a tropical storm.

Tropical storm Nate is winding down after killing 40 people and doing more than US$2.52 billion in damage. It is now over Nova Scotia as a tropical depression in a few days.

There was also a firestorm in California, leaving 29 dead and many missing.

This September was our 8th hottest recorded.
