The Otago Youth Adventure Trust and Milton Rotary Tramping Club was last night named Clutha's premier volunteer grouping of 2010.

At the annual TrustPower Clutha Community Awards the adventure trust and club received a framed certificate, a trophy and $1500 prize money.

TrustPower community relations representative Melanie Tavendale said the success had resulted from two community-minded groups working together to enable even inexperienced trampers to "enjoy our stunning outdoors in a relaxed but safe manner".

Tessa McCall (17), a year 13 pupil at Blue Mountain College, was named the Youth Community Spirit Award winner.

She received two Top Scholar Awards for outstanding achievements in NCEA and had also represented the college in several sports.
