Armed call-out charges dropped

Police are dropping all charges against a Christchurch man who was arrested after an armed offenders squad call-out in suburban Edgeware on January 20.

The police decision was made as Duncan Alfred Harris, an unemployed 28-year-old, was due to appear to in Christchurch District Court for a status hearing, which would normally settle arrangements for a trial.

Police have asked for the charges of breaching a protection order, and possession of cannabis and pipes to be withdrawn.

No reason was given in court for the withdrawals.

Harris has been on bail since his first court appearance on January 21.
