A 10-year-old boy is in a serious condition in hospital after he was struck down by a car in Whangarei today.
The accident happened about 5.30pm on Kamo Rd just south of Bedlington Rd, in Whau Valley.
A south-bound car struck the boy as he was crossing the road, police said.
The driver stopped immediately and was helping police with their enquiries.
The boy was in a serious condition in Whangarei Hospital.
Alcohol was not a factor in the accident, police said.
